Merchant Navy Cadet Arun Honored for Service

Merchant Navy cadet Arun, aged 20, who was serving onboard the INS Sagarmala training vessel, passed away due to high-altitude-related health complications during a deployment in the Northern maritime zone.

His last rites were conducted with full honors at his hometown Kishori village, Udaipur, recognizing his dedication and service to India’s maritime operations.

Due to adverse weather conditions, transporting his body from Chandigarh posed challenges. However, with the support of retired Merchant Navy officers and coordination via a coast guard helicopter, timely transport arrangements were successfully completed.

 

This incident highlights the risks faced by young cadets and seafarers while serving in challenging maritime environments, and the importance of robust logistical support for safety and emergency situations.
